    • Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF): The official military of Sudan, led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. They control much of the eastern and northern regions, including parts of the capital Khartoum.
    • Rapid Support Forces (RSF): A paramilitary group led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (known as Hemedti). Originally formed from Janjaweed militias, they now control significant territories including most of Darfur and parts of Khartoum.
    • Darfur: A western region of Sudan that has seen some of the worst violence during the current conflict. It previously experienced genocide in the early 2000s during a separate conflict.
