ANC Gauteng Seeks Continued EFF Partnership Despite Malema's Rejection
TheWkly Analysis
The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng province states it still wants to work with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in all municipalities within the province. Earlier this month, EFF leader Julius Malema announced his party would end cooperation agreements with the ANC in Gauteng. Malema accused ANC Chairperson in Ekurhuleni, Doctor Nkosidipile Xakaza, of wanting to push the EFF out of their governance responsibilities in his metro. ANC Provincial coordinator Hope Papo spoke on the sidelines of the ANC’s Provincial Gauteng two-day Lekgotla in Johannesburg. Papo emphasized that the EFF has not been kicked out of any municipality by the ANC, and all regions are part of ongoing discussions. The ANC has remained in touch with the EFF, including during a prior problem between the PA and the EFF in Johannesburg.
